The Silver Britannia is the Royal Mint's one-ounce silver coin, carrying Philip Nathan's standing Britannia and a £2 face value.
Each coin holds one troy ounce of .999 fine silver. From 2021 the Royal Mint added the same four security features it uses on the gold Britannia, including a latent image that shifts as the coin is tilted and a surface-animation field that moves under light, which makes a genuine coin easy to confirm without equipment.
Britannias are widely traded in Europe and in the US. For UK buyers they are exempt from capital gains tax as legal tender; that is a UK rule and does not apply to US buyers.
