About this coin

America's silver coin: one ounce of .999 silver, guaranteed by the US government, and IRA-eligible. Contains 1 troy oz of fine silver (.999). Legal tender with a face value of $1 (USD), which is symbolic — its value is the metal. Year of our choice; condition brilliant uncirculated unless stated. Packaging: Mint tube of 20; 500-coin monster box at 500+.

The American Silver Eagle is the most traded silver bullion coin in the world and the benchmark other silver is priced against.

Each coin holds one troy ounce of .999 fine silver, with a $1 face value and weight and purity guaranteed by the United States government. Adolph Weinman's Walking Liberty, first used on the half dollar in 1916, has been on the obverse since the series began in 1986. The reverse changed in 2021 to an eagle coming in to land.

Eagles carry a higher premium than rounds or bars, and they also sell back faster and for more, which is why most silver stacks start here.

We ship the year we have in stock, in mint tubes of 20, or sealed 500-coin monster boxes on larger orders.

Questions

How is the price of the Silver Eagle 1 oz calculated?

It contains 1 troy oz of fine silver. At the current spot price of $49.29/oz that metal is worth $49.29; our premium for one unit is $6.99 (14.2%), paying by bank transfer. The price updates with spot until you lock it at checkout for 10 minutes.

Why is the card price higher?

Card networks charge us a fee on every card payment. Our list price is the card price; paying by bank transfer (ACH) or wire saves you 4%.

Is there a discount for buying more?

Yes — the per-unit price drops at 20 and 500 units. The table beside the price shows each break.

Can I spend it?

It is legal tender with a face value of $1 (USD), but the face value is symbolic. Its worth is its silver content.

Why do Eagles cost more than silver rounds?

You are paying for a government-minted coin with a guaranteed weight and purity, which is why they also resell for more. Rounds hold the same ounce of silver for a lower premium.

Can I hold this in an IRA?

Generally eligible for a precious metals IRA, though your custodian has the final say on what it accepts.

How will it be shipped?

Fully insured, in plain packaging with no reference to what's inside, and a signature is required on delivery. Tracking is emailed when it ships.
