About this coin
One of the few sovereign palladium coins, from the Royal Canadian Mint. Contains 1 troy oz of fine palladium (.9995). Legal tender with a face value of $50 (CAD), which is symbolic — its value is the metal. Year of our choice; condition brilliant uncirculated unless stated. Packaging: Individual capsule.
The Royal Canadian Mint's palladium Maple Leaf is one of very few palladium bullion coins ever produced, and it is struck only in some years.
Each coin holds one troy ounce of .9995 fine palladium with a $50 Canadian face value and the familiar maple leaf design.
Palladium is mostly an industrial metal, used heavily in petrol vehicle catalysts, and its price has been among the most volatile of the precious metals. The market is small: few dealers stock palladium, spreads are wide, and supply can disappear for months at a time.
Buy it understanding that, and expect to sell through a dealer rather than privately. We ship the year we have in stock, in a capsule.
Questions
How is the price of the Palladium Maple 1 oz calculated?
It contains 1 troy oz of fine palladium. At the current spot price of $1,411.33/oz that metal is worth $1,411.33; our premium for one unit is $127.02 (9.0%), paying by bank transfer. The price updates with spot until you lock it at checkout for 10 minutes.
Why is the card price higher?
Card networks charge us a fee on every card payment. Our list price is the card price; paying by bank transfer (ACH) or wire saves you 4%.
Is there a discount for buying more?
Yes — the per-unit price drops at 10 units. The table beside the price shows each break.
Can I spend it?
It is legal tender with a face value of $50 (CAD), but the face value is symbolic. Its worth is its palladium content.
Why is palladium so volatile?
Supply is concentrated in a few countries and most demand is industrial, so small changes in either move the price sharply.
Can I hold this in an IRA?
Generally eligible for a precious metals IRA, though your custodian has the final say on what it accepts.
How will it be shipped?
Fully insured, in plain packaging with no reference to what's inside, and a signature is required on delivery. Tracking is emailed when it ships.
